8stops7 began in Ventura County, CA, in 1996; and consisted of Evan Sula-Goff (vocals, guitar), Seth Watson (guitar), Adam Powell, (drums), and Alex Viveros (bass). In 1998, they independently released their debut self-produced album “Birth Of A Cynic”. They then signed with Reprise Records, and released their sophomore “In Moderation” in October 1999.
The band's name, 8stops7, uses numbers symbolicly. According to band members, "8" in 8stops7 resembles the infinity symbol, whilst the “7” represents a lot of unpleasant, limiting things like the seven days of the week, the seven years of bad luck, and seven plagues. Sula-Goff says, "Basically, seven is a symbol of something you want to get away from, and eight is the door you go through to get there.”
8stops7 play an alternative rock style and some thoughtful, meaningful lyrics which help make their deep thoughts accessible. 8stops7’s radio hit’s include "My Would-Be Savior", “Question Everything”, and "Satisfied", which placed in radio play charts. A number of line-up changes have occurred throughout the bands history, but the band currently consists of Evan Sula-Goff, Seth Watson, Rodney Amieva, Brandon Hall & Adam Powell.
